Itinerary
Welcome to your Danube golf cruise! Your journey begins in Budapest, where you embark in the afternoon. You will be briefed on all onshore excursions, golf clubs and starting times. This evening, join us for a Welcome Cocktail, followed by a specially-prepared Welcome Dinner. While the ship cruises through beautifully-illuminated Budapest, you will be briefed on all onshore excursions, golf clubs and starting times. A romantic evening!
Discover the beautiful sights and attractions of the Hungarian capital. This morning, you will be transferred to the Pannónia Golf and Country Club, picturesquely situated in a valley bordering the Etyek wine region. In the afternoon, rejoin the ship in Esztergom just before dinner.
Pannónia Golf and Country Club
The Pannónia Golf and Country Club is picturesquely situated in a valley bordering the Etyek wine region, east of the Hungarian capital Budapest. The 18-hole championship course was designed by the prominent Austrian architect Hans G. Erhardt and opened in 1996. Since then, it has staged many national and international events, including tournaments such as the BMW Golf Cup International and events sanctioned by the European Golf Association (EGA). The elegant clubhouse was designed by famous Hungarian neoclassical architect Mihály Pollack and blends beautifully with the wine-growing scenery. On the course, idyllic lakes serve as obstacles for eight holes. Doglegs provide suspense at holes 9 and 11 and pin placements may also present a challenge at the hilly greens. The immaculately maintained course meets the highest European standards and offers players both a technically challenging as well as an optically appealing experience with its combination of beautiful vegetation, water hazards and sand bunkers.
In the morning, we call at our next capital city – the Slovakian capital of Bratislava. After breakfast you are transferred to the Penati Golf Club, which is situated near the town of Senica and features the longest hole in Europe. In the evening, enjoy dinner on board before the vessel departs Slovakia and crosses into Austria.
Penati Golf Resort
The Penati Golf Resort is nestled in the Zahorie region of western Slovakia, not far from the town of Senica. The club offers two 18-hole courses – the challenging Legend course, which opened in 2012, and the Heritage course, which opened in 2013. The Legend course stretches over 95 hectares and was created by Nicklaus Designs, a company founded by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus and considered one of the world’s leading golf course design firms, with 60% of the world’s PGA tournament-hosting golf courses to their name. This course offers golfers undulating fairways, challenging bunkers and variable teeing placements, allowing golfers to control the difficulty level of their game. The signature holes of the Legend course are the 716-meter 15th hole, which is the longest hole in Europe, as well as the final hole, which is the narrowest hole on the green and plays onto a beautiful island green, and will undoubtedly provide an exciting finish to the game. The second 18-hole course, the Heritage course, was designed by Jonathan Davison and the world-renowned Mick McShane and returns to the roots of island-design courses.
The magnificent capital city of Austria features many world-famous sights such as St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Vienna State Opera and Schönbrunn Palace, among many others. In the morning, you are transferred to the Fontana Golf Club, picturesquely situated about 30 kilometers south of Vienna, with a view of the Schneeberg, the highest mountain in Lower Austria, and the foothills of the Viennese Forest. After a round of golf, you return to your ship. This evening offers an included excursion to attend the “Sound of Vienna” and listen to the “Alt Wien” orchestra play popular pieces from Vienna’s classical era – a perfect end to your Vienna experience.
Fontana Golf Club
Fontana Golf Club’s championship course promises an unforgettable golfing experience. Situated about 30 kilometers south of Vienna, the golf course is set in a lush natural setting and offers a view of the Schneeberg, the highest mountain in Lower Austria, and the foothills of the Viennese Forest. Conceptualized by the well-known Canadian architect Doug Carrick, the layout and design of the golf course provides players with a top-class, international golfing experience that is both challenging and fair. The course opened for play in 1996 and, from 2006 to 2009, hosted the European Tour in Austria and has since been considered one of the best golfing locations in Austria and Europe. Due to constant improvements and renovation, the Fontana course is expected to become one of the top 10 golf courses in Europe. The exciting 18-hole course will challenge players with its numerous bunkers and water hazards, combined with some easier holes to give a satisfying, well-rounded experience.
The romantic Wachau is one of the most beautiful landscape regions of Austria. In the morning your AMADEUS ship docks in Dürnstein, a town well-known for its first-class wines. Wander through this picturesque village or join the optional excursion. During lunch onboard, your cruise continues to Emmersdorf. Spend the afternoon discovering this typical small town in Lower Austria or opt to travel across the river to nearby Melk and its magnificent Benedictine abbey – the largest in Austria. In the evening, your ship leaves the Wachau and heads for Linz
Alternatively, join the optional full-day trip to Lengenfeld Golf Club:
Lengenfeld Golf Club (optional)
The Lengenfeld Golf Club is picturesquely situated in a UNESCO World Cultural Landscape in Lower Austria, just a 10-minute drive from Krems. It offers an unforgettable golfing experience amongst the terraced vineyard landscapes, and golfers can enjoy beautiful views onto romantic forests and the Kamp Valley. The club, with the motto “golf at its finest,” was founded in 1993 by Otmar Gschwantner and was extended in 2007. It includes a 36-hole golf course, which is divided into the 18-hole Kamptal course with par 71 and the 18-hole Donauland course with par 72. While the hilly terrain and many water hazards of the Kamptal course allow long tees, the Donauland course presents a more athletic challenge with its slanted areas and narrow first 9 fairways. A specialty at Lengenfeld Golf Club is the Golf Vinarium. Each tee is assigned an Austrian grape wine variety, turning the course into an educational wine trail that ends at the clubhouse.

Early in the morning, your ship reaches the erstwhile cultural capital, Linz, where your vessel makes a short stop for the departure of today’s golf excursion – a full day tour to the legendary Quellness Golf Resort / Beckenbauer Golf Course. This evening the captain invites you to a festive Gala Dinner, full of wonderful regional dishes.
Quellness Golf Resort Beckenbauer Golf Course
Picturesquely situated in the peaceful Bavarian countryside, the Quellness Golf Resort features the distinguished, 18-hectar Beckenbauer Golf Course, a championship course designed by renowned golfer Bernhard Lange. This exclusive course is one of the select few to host PGA European Tour events, specifically the Challenge Tour, which was held here from 2013 to 2015. In addition, in 2015 and 2016, the Beckenbauer Golf Course hosted the Porsche European Open, and in 2017, it was the venue for the Paul Lawrie Matchplay. The course has been praised by some of the world’s foremost players for its technical challenges as well as its impeccable condition. The flat but varied terrain incorporates a multitude of water hazards, such as streams, flood plains, and lakes, and requires golfers to play a precise game. Holes 9 and 18 provide the opportunity for particularly spectacular shots onto island greens. The hand-mown greens and fairways remain in top condition even in the height of summer.
After breakfast, join our tour of Passau and discover the unique flair of winding alleyways and baroque masterpieces that still characterize the city today. In the afternoon, visit the Veste Oberhaus, one of the largest preserved castle complexes in Europe that towers high above Passau. Back on board, you will experience a hearty Bavarian evening with live music and regional delicacies as the ship remains in Passau overnight.
Alternatively, join the optional full-day trip to the Regensburg Golf Club:
Regensburg Golf Club (optional)
Situated at the foothills of the majestic Bavarian Forest, the Regensburg Golf and Country Club is a truly princely estate, complete with a clubhouse dating back to 1885, which was a former hunting lodge of the Counts of Thurn and Taxis. The Regensburg Golf Club first opened in 1966 with a temporary, 4-hole course. In 1968, famous golf architect Donald Harradine designed a 9-hole course, which he extended by another 9 holes in 1981. In 2000, the course was modernized by Thomas Himmel, who ensured that it meets modern playing requirements. However, the course’s distinctive English parkland character, which it retains, is the work of Harradine. The grounds boast trees of up to 300 years old and offer spectacular views of the Danube valley. The undulating terrain and the water hazards present both a challenge to players as well as a feast of natural beauty. Among the club’s achievements is its membership as one of the Leading Golf Courses of Germany.
