Enhance your journey with our optional Peru Extension Tour, where ancient civilizations and dramatic Andean landscapes await. Explore the historic city of Cusco, wander through the Sacred Valley, and stand before the awe-inspiring ruins of Machu Picchu, gaining deeper insight into the rich cultural legacy of the Inca Empire.
Itinerary
Breakfast at hotel before transfer to airport for flight to Cusco, Peru (via Lima). Upon your arrival in Cusco, we will meet you at the airport to transfer you to the Sacred Valley. Day at leisure to acclimatise.
Today we visit Pisac, where Incan and colonial influences blend beautifully, and explore its famous artisan markets for fine jewellery, ceramics, and textiles, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, we travel to Ollantaytambo, one of the last remaining Incan towns, to explore its impressive archaeological complex and ancient fortress structures that once protected royal travellers.
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the train station for a scenic ride to Aguas Calientes. From there, you will be taken to the entrance of Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the iconic citadel, followed by lunch in Machu Picchu Pueblo. Afterward, return by Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo and transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.
This morning is at leisure, followed by an afternoon visit to Manos de la Comunidad to learn about Andean camelids and traditional textile techniques. Continue to the impressive Fortress of Sacsayhuaman and enjoy panoramic city views from Cristo Blanco. Finish with a stroll through San Pedro Market, then visit the Qoricancha Temple and Cusco Cathedral, ending the day with a farewell dinner at the hotel.
Transfer from the hotel to Cusco airport to board the flight to Lima and connect your flight back to Canada.
