Serian Bush Camp

Serian (meaning ‘serene’ in Maasai) is the charismatic retreat of Alex Walker, filmmaker and safari guide. An exclusive bush camp, it is located at the heart of the Koiyaki/Lemek private community conservancy, which adjoins the Masai Mara National Reserve. There are just eight marquee tents overlooking the river, each with private verandah and ensuite bathroom. The central mess area stands on a raised deck and centers on a roaring log fire. The camp also offers a safari library, outdoor lounge and campfire area and a boutique. Game walks and drives are tailored to suit the clients’ wishes but typically take place early morning and late afternoon. Evening sundowner drives can also be arranged, as can night game drives, a unique activity not permitted in the actual reserve.

Delta Dunes Lodge

Standing high above the dunes, this Robinson Crusoe-styled lodge looks out over a twenty mile stretch of wide, empty beach. Similarly stunning views stretch inland over the estuary, which is a sanctuary for hippo, crocodile and a wide range of other wildlife. The swimming pool, spectacularly positioned above the dunes offers a cool retreat from the sun, while the double storey central lodge offers a restaurant, bar, lounge, boutique and open-air pergola with panoramic views. There are just six dune cottages all with a lounge and bedroom, raised on wooden platforms. Completely open, each cottage has wonderful views, enormous double beds and ensuite bathrooms. Activities include boat trips on the estuary, sundowner cruises, game and bird walks with local trackers, channel fishing for rock cod and red snapper, plus sand-yachting, windsurfing and canoeing.
